MRN has an experienced and nowledgable Africa Area Facilitator in Sam Shewmaker. He has assembled an Africa Advisory Panel composed of some of the most respected missionaries and African church leaders.
AAt the dawning of the 21 Century Africa is a paradox: a continent plagued by the monumental burdens of colonialism, tribalism, war, disease and poverty, while enjoying one of the greatest spiritual movements to Christ in recorded history.
Once dubbed the dark continent, sub-Saharan Africa has grown in one century from 9 million professing believers in Christ to almost 400 million. Yet, the African church needs to make its spiritual footprint on the north of the continent and the world by becoming a missions-sending church. Together, churches in Africa and the West can forge partnerships that will result in powerfully and effectively completing the evangelization of the continent.
Shewmaker and the Africa Advisory Panel are committed to planting churches in Africa and beyond. They are prayerfully promoting a kingdom agenda that will glorify God by:
· Fostering collaboration between the Africa Area Facilitator, Advisory
Panel and other African leaders whose collective insight and experience
will address the church-planting process.
· Targeting priority people groups and cities in Africa for strategic church
planting.
· Developing holistic approaches that effectively exemplify the grace
and the truth of the gospel for the less-reached peoples of the
continent.
· Recruiting, assessing, equipping and mentoring both African and
American church-planting teams.
· Providing consultation resources to sending churches that support and
oversee their missionaries.
