Keeping with the Conference theme, "Into the Heart of God," each keynote speaker offered us insight and challenged us on different aspects of God's heart for the world. Beginning with the exhilarating message from Jim McGuiggan, and carrying through the provocative thoughts shared by Fred Asare, Howard Norton, Evertt Huffard, Daniel Rodriguez, Randy Harris and Shon Smith, we were touched and motivated to become better reflections of God's heart to those who don't know Him.
Surrounding these keynote messages were scripture readings and prayers by brothers from all over the globe - Australia, Zimbabwe, Croatia, U.S., Trinidad and Tobago, and South Africa to name some, and live Skype conversations with Christians indigenous to Singapore and Paraguay as well as a missionary in Ukraine. And the singing was a wonderful time of focused praise!
We were informed and inspired by 80 classes on a broad range of missions topics, touching on such things as how to be better equipped as a church for missions, what options there are for training in missions, financial compliance with the government, how to better care for missionaries, short-term missions options, and more. Each session was recorded and CDs were and are available for purchase from Dove Cassettes (email your request to firstname.lastname@example.org).
Combined with teen and children's programs, the Resource Center where helpful books were available for purchase, and the numerous exhibits, there was something for everyone! Also featured was the Global Village sponsored by Bread for a Hungry World...a great opportunity to experience life and needs in other cultures.
Of course, this was a huge endeavor and would not have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors. We especially appreciate The Kathleen McGehee Trust for their anchor sponsorship. And the event was blessed in amazing ways by the Legacy Church of Christ, which not only provided the venue but also enouraged participation in their membership, resulting in hundreds of those brothers and sisters working as volunteers.
God was glorified and hearts were fanned into flame to advance His mission!
