The Staines Family
Veteran Australian missionary Graham Stewart Staines (1941-1999), and his sons, Timothy (6) and Philip (10) were burned alive when members of the Hindu radical party Bajrang Dal doused their car with kerosene and set it ablaze in the Indian state of Orissa. Graham’s wife, Gladys Stains, said, “I am not bitter. Neither am I angry. I can forgive their (killers’) deeds. Only Jesus can forgive their sins. But they will have to ask.” Graham’s daughter, Esther Staines, said, “I praise God that He found my father worthy to die for Christ.”
Pray for India:
Pray that Indian nationalists will not become Hindu radicals who persecute other religions, but will stay true to the Indian constitution of freedom of religion to everyone in India. Pray that Hindus would hear the message of the love of God and the redemption in Christ.
Pray for workers who make great sacrifices:
Pray that when cross-cultural missionaries go to foreign countries, they will be ambassadors of the love of God in Jesus. And that God will raise up fruit from their sacrifices made by living abroad, even in the face of hostility.
