Will You Pray?

In the world of unreached people, MRN is concerned with those who have no access to the Gospel and worship idols: gods made with human hands and ideas.  However, within most of these non-Christian theologies, there are often glimpses of truth sprinkled through their stories and festivals.  This is especially true among our Hindu friends.

A very important example of this is manifesting itself soon in the upcoming Hindu festival of Diwali. (Diwali is celebrated according to the Hindu lunar calendar around a new moon during Harvest time. The 2020 dates for the five-day festival are November 12-16.) Diwali began as a harvest festival and celebrates the goddess of wealth, Lakshmi. Its theme is the celebration of the victory of good over evil and is illustrated with lamps being lit on the darkest of nights of the harvest lunar month. The light in the dark night is a sign of celebration and hope. Diwali is the most popular holiday among Hindu people. Gifts are often given to family members and friends in order to celebrate goodwill and love.

A prayer that is often spoken at this time comes from the Hindu holy writings of the Vedas. It is:

From untruth, lead us to Truth.

From darkness, lead us to Light.

From death, lead us to Immortality.

            Om: Peace, Peace, Peace.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we can relate to this prayer! Jesus is Truth. Jesus is the Light of the World. Jesus gives us Everlasting Life. Jesus is the King of Peace.

We are asking for followers of Jesus Christ to pray for our Hindu friends and the many who are unreached with the Gospel in South and Southeast Asia (the Bengal Initiative). Please join us in November in these specific prayers:

  • Pray that Hindus may be able to see Truth, Light, and Salvation in Jesus Christ.

  • Pray that Hindus will find Peace with God through the King of Peace, Jesus.

  • Ask God for more workers in the harvest of leading Hindus from darkness to light.

  • Seek guidance for participating in the sacrificial giving of God’s gift of Life in Christ to these people.

Thank you for your concern for the mission of God and the redemption of lostness in the world.
