January Prayer Update

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

(Isaiah 43:19)

A new year always seems to bring with it new beginnings. In that regard, our emails calling you to pray are no different! In the past, we’ve used this format to communicate how you can pray for the MedRim Initiative. In 2020, we’re asking you to expand your prayer coverage to all three of the initiatives into which God is calling MRN:

  • The MedRim Initiative: An effort to see multiple disciple-making movements started throughout Islamic people groups surrounding the Mediterranean Sea.

  • The Emerging Leadership Initiative: An effort to develop spiritually mature leaders in key locations around the world who multiply leaders in their own contexts.

  • The Bengal Initiative: An effort to initiate movements of disciples among the Hindu and Buddhist people groups around the Bay of Bengal.

A friend of mine is fond of saying that the only things in this life really worth attempting are the ones that are bound to fail if God doesn’t show up. Friends, if that’s the case, these three are really worth doing because there is zero chance of success without the Spirit of the Living God accomplishing these through His people!

  • If Muslims are to continue coming to Christ in unprecedented numbers, it will be through the prayers of people like you.

  • If healthy leaders are to multiply healthy leaders in places where godly, culturally-appropriate leadership has often been stifled, that wisdom and courage must come from the Father.

  • If Hindus and Buddhists are to turn to the One True God, it will only happen by the grace of our Father bursting into dark places, empowered by the Spirit’s answers to the prayers of His people.

Beg the Lord of the Harvest to send out His workers into all these areas! Ask Him to bless the work of His people’s hands, and ask Him to bring about fruit – fruit that will last!

Finally, ask Him to do a new thing in 2020, to surprise us all by the people He calls out of darkness and into light!
