Muslims and Ramadan - April 2020

Faithful Prayer Partners,

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus!

In this day of uncertainty, it is sometimes difficult to even know what to pray. A virus threatens our world. Millions are losing their jobs. Countless other millions are forced to stay home even though their life depends on them working each day to earn what little they can to support their families. The world is vulnerable, exposed. It is difficult to feel powerless.

Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” As we turn our focus to praying for Muslim people during this season of Ramadan, this is the frame for our engagement. We are most powerful when we are still! As with most things in this upside-down Kingdom we live in, this truth seems counter to our experience. We are people who take control. We act. But the invitation of Jesus for us today is to engage the posture of the powerless on our knees and ask Him to do things we cannot.

During this Ramadan season, which runs from April 23-May 23, we invite you to join with us in praying for the people who have never heard the name of Jesus. We invite you to pray these five requests for the Muslim world and for the missionaries who work there so hard each day as we continue to knock on God’s door and ask that He do what we cannot.

Please pray:

  • That God would move supernaturally by revealing Himself to people who are not seeking Him, through dreams and visions and by connecting us to people of peace.

  • That God would reveal emerging leaders who are bold, passionate, obedient, stirred in their spirit to see the Gospel move among their people, and who persevere in suffering.

  • That God would provide the resources necessary to facilitate movement, including locations for discovery groups to gather and Bible translations in local dialects.

  • That God would transform us (the workers) to be spirit-led disciples of Jesus who model kingdom living.

  • That God would help the children and families of the missionaries to thrive socially, spiritually, and emotionally, and to accept and understand God’s love for them.

These are uncertain times. But there is a truth brothers and sisters that must be spoken out into the darkness, a declaration that we make as sons and daughters of a King who could not be killed: We will not be afraid. We will not be afraid because the Risen King’s name is Immanuel, He is God-With-Us, and He is the one who will write our story. Jesus has so much to do in our world today, and He is just getting started.

Thank you for praying with us. We are honored to walk this path with you!
