Day 7
Have you moved recently? Or helped someone else (if you own a truck, odds are good)? Remember what it was like showing up in a new place, not knowing where the best deals were, where the best pizza was, where the right church for you would be? You’ve got all the old needs, but you don’t know where to get them met.
Welcome to culture stress – the stress that comes from having to get old needs met in new ways.
This is something all cross-cultural workers struggle with from time to time. Beyond the need for deals and pizza, they encounter visa struggles, bureaucracy, language learning, clothing changes, schooling challenges, as well as deeper differences related to world view.
Pray today, friend, that the God of all Cultures would meet MedRim workers in their most stressful moments, whether they’ve been on site years or are newly-arrived. Pray that He would bring the peace of Jesus to tired bodies, minds, and hearts. Pray also for local friends, people who can breathe life into them and remind them that God has called them to love people.
And pray also that they might find some decent pizza.
