Day 28

Life as a refugee is complicated.

It gets really complicated when you or someone you love that you’re traveling with is sick. Finding competent medical care that will serve refugees is a challenge.

Mehrdad is a powerful disciple maker originally from a closed Islamic country who has a problem with his heart. The Greek government was not able (or maybe chose not) to provide the kind of care he needed in timely fashion. For this reason, he braved a complicated journey back to his country of origin where he received treatment and then had to leave again. Mehrdad is recovering, back in his new home with his wife and children.

Mehrdad needs a new heart. Doctors are hopeful medication can regulate or even solve his problem, but he may need a transplant in the future. As you might imagine, a refugee stuck between worlds is not going to be high on anyone’s donor list.

Thank God with me for the ways God has changed Mehrdad’s spiritual heart; once a criminal, he has brought many to Jesus. Thank God also for preserving Mehrdad’s life to today. Ask that He would continue to do so, making strong his weak heart. Pray also for mercy for all those on their refugee journey, that they would find believing doctors and nurses willing to provide care for them in Jesus’ name.

Thank you for praying, friend.
